India are Devastated, Pakistan jubilant

India made just one change to their playing eleven – Sandeep Patil made way for his fellow Mumbaikar and 1983 World Cup-winning teammate Dilip Vengsarkar. Pakistan made a couple of changes to the eleven that last played the Indians – Saleem Yousuf and Mohsin Kamal were replaced by Manzoor Elahi and Zulqarnain. On winning the toss, Khan, Pakistan's captain, I(mra)nserted the Indians.

Krishnamachari Srikkanth scored 75. His 80-ball innings included eight boundaries and a couple of sixes. He was caught by Wasim Akram. Abdul Qadir broke the 117-run partnership. Vengsarkar scored 50. His 64-ball innings included a six. Akram broke the second-wicket stand, which was worth 99.
