Ganguly-led India beat Pakistan again

Although Visakhapatnam had hosted One-day Internationals earlier, this was the first time this venue was hosting an ODI. Neither India nor Pakistan made any changes to their playing eleven.

On winning the toss, Sourav Ganguly, India’s skipper, chose to bat. Their openers put on 26. Tendulkar, who faced eight balls, scored just a couple. Twenty ballS(ach)into the match, Mohammad Yousuf ran him out.

While India scored 50 off 5.1 overs, they scored 100 off 10.3 overs. Virender Sehwag, whose 40-ball innings included a dozen boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 74. His 50 – which included seven boundaries and both the sixes – came off 26 balls. Sixty-two balls later, he was caught by Salman Butt. Naved-ul-Hasan broke the 96-run partnership.

Ganguly, whose 22-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Thirty-four balls later, Mohammad Sami broke the 18-run stand.

While India scored 150 off 21 overs, they scored 200 off 28.2 overs and 250 off 37.1 overs. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the player of the match, scored 148. His 123-ball innings included 15 boundaries and four sixes. While his half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six – came off 49 balls, his ton – which included 10 boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 88 balls. A hundred and thirty-two balls later, he was caught by Shoaib Malik. Mohammad Hafeez broke the 149-run partnership.

India scored 300 off 42 overs. Rahul Dravid, whose 59-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 52. His half-century came off 57 balls. Five balls after Dhoni’s (Afri)dismissal, he was caught by Shahid. Naved broke the 11-run stand.

Mohammad Kaif, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. Three balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Naved, who broke the 0ne-run stand. Yuvraj Singh, whose 10-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 15. Nineteen balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Arshad Khan, who broke the 17-run stand.

Harbhajan Singh, whose 16-ball innings included a boundary, scored 11. Nine balls later, the offie (Ars)had a reason to be in seventh heaven. Lakshmipathy Balaji, whose 13-ball innings included a six, scored 17. He was unbeaten.

India scored 350 off 49.4 overs. Zaheer Khan, whose nine-ball innings included a couple of sixes, scored 17. Sixteen balls later, he was caught by Abdul Razzaq. Hafeez broke the 31-run stand.

Pakistan conceded 11 extras. India scored 356 for the loss of nine wickets off 50 overs. Afridi, who bowled nine overs, conceded 82. He was wicketless, as was Razzaq, who bowled 10 overs, conceding 55. Sami, who bowled nine overs, conceded 65. He picked up a wicket.

Arshad, who bowled five overs, conceded 43. He picked up a couple of wickets, as did Hafeez, who bowled seven overs, conceding 55. Naved, who bowled 10 overs, conceded 54. He picked up three scalps.

Afridi, who faced a couple of balls, didn’t get off the mark. Eight balls later, Ashish Nehra broke the five-run stand. Pakistan scored 50 off 7.1 overs. Butt, whose 32-ball innings included seven boundaries, scored 36. Seventy balls later, he was caught by Sehwag. Nehra broke the 84-run partnership.

Pakistan scored 100 off 14.5 overs. The third-wicket pair put on 40. Inzamam-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s skipper, scored 16. His 13-ball innings included a six. Thirty-seven balls later, Harbhajan and Tendulkar ran him out.

Pakistan scored 150 off 22.1 overs. Razzaq, whose (Dho)ninety-three-ball innings included 13 boundaries and a six, scored 88. His 50 – which included 11 boundaries – came off 45 balls. Forty-nine balls later, he was caught behind. Yuvraj broke the 47-run stand.

Pakistan scored 200 off 31 overs. Malik, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored a dozen. Twenty-four balls later, he was caught by Sehwag. Yuvraj broke the 28-run stand. Although his run-a-ball innings included a boundary, Hafeez had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 13 balls later, he was caught by Balaji. Yuvraj broke the 18-run stand.

Pakistan scored 250 off 36.1 overs. Yousuf, whose 56-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and four sixes, scored 71. His half-century – which included a boundary and three sixes – came off 44 balls. Twenty-eight balls later, he was caught by Kaif. Nehra broke the 41-run stand.

Naved, who faceD(ho)nine balls, scored a couple. Fifteen balls later, he was caught behind. Nehra broke the five-run stand. Sami, who faced nine balls, scored a couple. Sixteen balls later, he was caught by Yuvraj. Harbhajan broke the 28-run stand.

Kamran Akmal, whose 28-ball innings included four boundaries and a six, scored 41. Five balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Zaheer, who broke the two-run stand. Arshad, who faced four balls, scored a couple. He was unbeaten.

India conceded 21 extras. Pakistan, who were dismissed for 298 off 44.1 overs, lost by 56 runs. Balaji, who bowled half-a-dozen overs, conceded 33. He was wicketless, as was Tendulkar, who bowled seven overs, conceding 44.

Zaheer, who bowled 6.1 overs, conceded 38. He picked up a wicket, as did Harbhajan, who bowled seven overs, conceding 50. He picked up a wicket. Yuvraj, who bowled eight overs, conceded 55. He picked up three wickets. Nehra, who bowled 10 overs, conceded 72. He picked up four scalps.

India led the six-match series 2-0.
