India lead aS(achi)neighbours Pakistan capitulate

India made one change to their playing eleven – Sourav Ganguly made way for Aashish Kapoor. Pakistan made one change to theirs as well – Inzamam-ul-Haq made way for Saleem Elahi. Sachin Tendulkar, India’s skipper, won the toss, choosing to bat.

Nayan Mongia, who faced five balls, scored a couple. He was trapped leg before wicket by Wasim Akram, who broke the five-run stand. Tendulkar, who faced 13 balls, scored a couple. He was caught by Aamer Sohail. Akram broke the nine-run stand.

Mohammad Azharuddin, whose 68-ball (Mo)innings included three boundaries, scored 38. He was stumped by Khan. Sohail broke the 74-run stand. Rahul Dravid, the player of the match, scored 46. India conceded 14 extras. Pakistan, who were dismissed for 136 off 42.4 overs, lost by 55 runs. Tendulkar, who bowled four overs, conceded 17. The Indians led the five-match series 2-1.
